VOCABULARY DIAGNOSTIC TEST

Vocabulary Units (levels 2-9) are diagnosed and prescribed from the Vocabulary Diagnostic Test. This test is given orally to the student by the Instructor.

Second grade level students should be given the Second Grade test. Students who miss more than five words (1/3 of test) may need a refresher course.

Students enrolling in levels 3 through 8 should be required to take a Spelling Test (on a clean sheet of paper). While you read each word from each level in the order listed, give a proper sentence using the first word within the sentence (not the first word). Instruct students to attempt to spell all words the best they know how. Score the Test and determine at what level the words become too difficult (i.e., student misses five or more words in any level). This would be the performance level where the student should be prescribed. Begin student with the first Unit of that level. Do not prescribe above the student's chronological grade level even if he scores 100 percent on the test.

Enrolling high school students who have not previously taken Etymology take this Test and are prescribed accordingly. Etymology 1097-1108 is a High School elective.
