Academic Inegrity

At Bridgeway Academy, academic integrity is central to our educational philosophy, underpinning our commitment to honesty, trust, fairness, respect, and responsibility. This commitment ensures that all student work genuinely reflects their own efforts and abilities, reinforcing the authenticity of their academic achievements. A full Academic Integrity Statement can be found in the Parent and Student Handbook. Below is a summary statement.

Plagiarism is a significant violation of academic integrity and encompasses various forms of dishonesty, including quoting or paraphrasing without proper citation, misrepresenting sources, imitating the structure of others’ work, using another student’s work as one’s own, and employing paper-writing services. All these practices undermine the true essence of learning and intellectual growth.

Assessment Integrity is vital to maintaining trust and fairness in evaluating student performance. Practices such as copying from answer keys, using unauthorized materials, or altering assessments undermine the credibility of the evaluation process. Students are encouraged to seek guidance from advisors and instructors rather than resorting to dishonest means.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is also guided by principles of integrity. While AI tools can aid in brainstorming and research, they must not replace the student’s own work or be used to generate content without proper citation. AI outputs must be critically reviewed and verified for accuracy and bias before inclusion in academic submissions. Any use of AI tools should be transparent and comply with Bridgeway’s policies to prevent misuse.

Consequences of Violations: Violating these principles of academic integrity may result in serious consequences, including academic penalties such as receiving a failing grade on an assignment or exam, academic probation, or other disciplinary actions. Such violations undermine the trust and fairness essential to the academic process and may impact a student’s academic record and future opportunities. Bridgeway Academy is dedicated to maintaining a culture of integrity and respect, ensuring that all academic endeavors reflect the students’ true abilities and contributions.

State Assessment Requirements

All students must participate in state assessments per Florida statute s. 1008.22 and in the state accountability system under s. 1008.31. Bridgeway Academy will communicate these requirements to all families in tested grades. Attendance and Participation Requirements

Students are considered enrolled and a member of Bridgeway Academy after completion of enrollment forms and assignment of courses.

For the purposes of tracking on-going attendance and reporting truancy concerns, a student is considered enrolled and in full attendance for each month when a student either has two-way communication with a teacher or academic advisor to discuss the student’s progress OR meets the defined monthly course performance targets.

Definition of Satisfactory Progress
Students are required to follow the course pacing guides to maintain satisfactory progress in the program. Satisfactory progress evaluations and determinations will be made monthly by the student’s academic advisor. Interventions, which may include an evaluation of appropriate placement in the program, will be made with reference to the student’s history of attaining satisfactory progress. If a student does not complete satisfactory progress for three consecutive months, the student will be withdrawn from enrollment in the program.
