Bridgeway Early College Program

Academy Select students can take up to three college courses each school year. Academy Premium can take up to ten college courses in a year.

Students can begin Early College in their Sophomore year with up to four courses. This is encouraged for those pursuing an Associate degree. They can also begin in their Junior year for a degree or professional certificate and Senior year to get a head start.

It is important to plan ahead for Early College. While it varies by institution, most students will need to have completed two years of college-prep English, Biology and another science, World History, Health, Algebra I and Geometry. Professional certificates and degree-seeking students will have more prerequisites depending on their pathway. For example, some will also require US History or Government, Algebra II, Chemistry/Physics, and a technology elective completed at the high school level.

With six colleges to choose from, we are able to work with you and your student to find the courses that your student needs and come up with a schedule that works for them.

We encourage students to contact the colleges or universities they hope to attend to confirm that the institute will accept transfer credits from our college partners. Each program is different, and they have their own set of requirements they look for. However, due to our partner colleges being fully accredited and being part of large consortiums, they are generally accepted by most institutions.

All courses are asynchronous, meaning that your student can log in at their convenience throughout the week. However, they must log in within the first two days of every new course so the professor can verify attendance. Assignments are given on one set day of the week and are due at the end of that week. Upon starting the course, make sure your student reads the course syllabus to learn when specific assignments are due as well as the professors expectations.
