Your 3 Homeschool Options in Florida

Homeschool Statute

To homeschool under Florida statute, parents must:

File a notice of intent within 30 days of beginning.
Maintain a portfolio; keep for 2 years.
Evaluate your student annually (5 methods).
File a notice of termination within 30 days of completion.

Private School Umbrella

Enroll your child in a registered private school that oversees your homeschool program. No involvement with public schools — just confirm the private school meets all state requirements.

Private Tutor

Have your child tutored privately. The tutor must hold a valid Florida teaching certificate, provide 180 days of instruction, and keep required records.

5 Ways to Meet Florida's Annual Evaluation Requirement

Educational progress evaluation by a Florida-certified teacher, including portfolio review and discussion with the student.
