Mississippi State Homeschool Law Summary

If you are homeschooling in the state of Mississippi, you will need to follow these steps:

  1. File a Certificate of Enrollment. The parent, guardian, or custodian of the child(ren) must include names, address, and telephone number of parents and children, children’s dates of birth, and a “simple description of the type of education the child(ren) are receiving.” The certificate must be submitted by September 15 of each school year to the school attendance officer where the child(ren) reside.
  2. If you begin homeschooling after September 15ththen you should send in your certificate as soon as possible after that.
